I didn’t think I had much of a beach cottage theme going at our house, but when I looked around with my camera in hand I found quite a few examples of beachiness.
Shells and stars
There are shells of course. Shells and sea stars looking pretty in glass vases and apothecary jars.
And a collection of all white shells that decorate a candle in a huricane light. This decoration has been standing on our patio table all summer, it is the second candle because we used the first one all up. I can’t think of better proof that we are having a great summer with lots of warm nights to sit outside by candle light.
Schelpen en zeesterren in glazen vazen en gecombineerd met kaarsen, een goude oude die het altijd blijft doen. Deze kaars op de tuintafel is trouwens al de tweede van dit seizoen, het ultieme bewijs dat we een goede zomer hebben, toch?
Beachy fabric
You might have already seen my trunk with the stripy pillows. The fabric gives this little corner a real beach cabana mood, don’t you think?
The summer pillows on our leather couch definitely have the colors of sand and sun.
Langzaam zijn er ook heel wat ‘strandstofjes’ het huis in geslopen. Buiten op mijn legerkist heb ik streepjes gebruikt die bij mij een echt strandhuisjes gevoel oproepen. Binnen zijn de kussens van onze leren bank in een zomerse mood met deze zandkleuren.
Beachy book
One of my latest home deco books is this one, it is called Zeezicht which means sea view.
It is a wonderful book with inspiration to give every room in your house a beach cottage look. The book is the Dutch translation of Coastal Style.
Mijn laastste aanwinst op het gebied van Decoratie boeken is deze: Zeezicht. Een heerlijk boek dat je ideeen geeft hoe je elke kamer in je huis een strandgevoel kunt geven.

When I really start to long for the sea I visit some lovely blogs that make me dream of my own little beach cottage at the sea.
Voor ons is de zee een heel eind weg, dus als ik echt verlang naar wijdse uitzichten en een huisje aan het strand, dan duik in onder in deze blogs.
