I found a new thrift store!

I found a new thrift store and it is a great one.

Ballerina on shelf

I live in the border region of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany are really close by. I have already discovered Belgium as a great place to visit Brocante markets, but for some reason I had never visited a Belgium thrift shop.

This week I decided that had to change. So I asked around what they were called there and where I could find one and with directions in one hand and my purse in the other I ventured into unknown territory.

I was so not disappointed. The location is a bit strange, hidden deep away in an industrial zone, but it was huge, very well organized and may I say still very cheap.

And the greatest thing of all was their collection. Because look at what I found: VINTAGE WALLPAPER.

Vintage wallpaper in basket

I have never ever before even seen anything remotely similar to vintage wallpaper over here. And in this new thrift store, so close to my home, I found a whole collection!

It is not vintage as in really, really old. Judging from the design of the labels I estimate that it is 70ties wallpaper, but the designs are so beautiful, just like the real thing! I was on cloud nine.

Of course I had to use it immediately.

Remember this shelf I blogged about last week.

Shelves before

It has received a makeover with my new vintage wallpaper.

Shelves after

I have begun decorating it. All these lovely little trinkets look so lovely with this wallpaper behind them.

As you can see, there is still a lot of room left for more little pretties. Which gives me a reason to hit the thrift stores again, can’t beat that!

The basket that the wallpaper is in, was also one of my lucky finds, I had been on the lookout for one just like it.

And since I spent more and more time in my craft room in the attic, a good chair had really become a necessity, so I bought a good, cheap and very ugly office chair.

Office chair before

Of course it is not going to stay that way, but it is not blogready yet, so I will show you that makeover next week.

So for now, I wish you all happy thrifting!

Love,

Dus elke tip is welkom!

Nice finds, Marianne! On getting a spot on Mr. Linky, I suppose it must do that when several people are adding links at the same time, I have no idea. At least you are #3. :)

Wonderful makeover, how do you find the time? I work over in Brussels every so often and I noticed a few antique shops.

Are you spraying the chair? I think spray paint would be an easy way of changing the colour of it.

Your shelf is lovely with the wallpaper backing. I've been thinking about doing this also on one of my china cabinets. Just can't decide~ ~Ahrisha~ ~

  32. Marianne@Songbirdisnesting says:

    Hi Ahrisha,
I would say go for it! You don't have to use glue all over the back. Just add a drop in the corners and then when you don't like it or you want to change the paper after some time, you can easily remove it.
    Try it, it is fun!
