Early this week I had to pick up something in an area of town close to the thrift shop. I only had about half an hour before I had an appointment but I decided to run inside anyway because I really needed something for my Revamp It challenge ( to see how that turned out, check out my last post).
Een paar dagen geleden moest ik in de buurt van de kringloopwinkel zijn en hoewel ik eigenlijk geen tijd had besloot ik toch even naar binnen te vliegen, want ik had nog dringend iets nodig voor de Revamp It challenge (hoe dat heeft uitgepakt kunnen jullie in mijn vorige post lezen).
And I don’t know if people had been cleaning out their attics during their holidays or that nobody came around to pick something up, but the thrift store was loaded. Everywhere I looked their seemed to be things I could use.
En het was of ze het erom deden, maar de hele kringloopwinkel leek wel vol te liggen met nieuwe, mooie spullen.
So like a mad woman I ran around grabbing this and that from the shelves. First the mirror you see on top.
Dus als een razende Roeland heb ik daar rondgerend en van alles meegegrepen.
Then I found a nice white pitcher and my first ever milk glass. I didn’t even know what milk glass was until I saw it on every other blog. I really like the shape of the goblet. And the little cutlery basket will come in handy for sorting out bits and bobs in my craft room.
Natuurlijk de spiegel die jullie al gezien hebben. De beker van melkglas vind ik helemaal leuk. Ik wist niet eens wat melkglas was totdat ik het op allerlei blogs voorbij zag komen. Het kannetje staat al ergens te pronken met een boeketje bloemen in, en het rieten bestekbakje zal een plekje krijgen in mijn hobby kamer om de boel georganiseerd te houden.
When I spotted this bookcase I knew it would be perfect for my attic. I was looking for such a ‘half’ bookcase because I don’t have a wall to put up a full length bookcase.
You should have seen the face of My Love when I brought this home and asked him to lift it out of the car, because it is heavy! And it really was a pretty ugly looking thing. But hè, he didn’t have a right to complain because when I wanted to buy an Ikea Billy a couple of weeks ago he said it was too flimsy.
Ik had een halfhoog boekkastje nodig voor op zolder omdat ik een hoge boekenkast niet kan plaatsen. Ik wilde een paar weken geleden al een Ikea Billy kopen maar Mijn Lief vond die niet stevig genoeg. Nou dan had hij dus ook niets te klagen toen ik hiermee thuis kwam. Een stevig, massief en loodzwaar kastje (en heel lelijk bovendien). Zijn gezicht was goud waard!
It has had a total makeover already and is now serving its purpose very well, holding a lot of my books.
I painted it white, as I have done with most of the furniture in my craft room. I think the white unifies all the different materials and forms a nice canvas for the colors of all the little items that flood around in this room.
Inmiddels heeft het kastje een makeover ondergaan en vind ik het helemaal leuk.
Adding the new knobs really finished the bookcase.
The last items I took home with me where three little shelf units.
See the one in the back, it even had tiny wheels! The little herb rack in front is now also white and I keep my most used stamps in there (forgot to take a picture, I promise to show you next time).
Tot slot heb ik nog drie rekjes gevonden. Het kruidenrekje is inmiddels wit en gebruik ik voor mijn meest populaire stempels (sorry vergeten te fotograferen). Het voorste wordt nog bewerkt en het achterste met de wieltjes ziet er nu zo uit:
The one in front is still being worked on. The cubicle cupboard now looks like this:
It is white of course, and I papered the back with different scrapbook papers.

I liked that look so much that I did the same with an old Ikea rack I had.
I used spray paint to glue on the papers and then cut the shape out with an exacto knife. It was sticky work but very easy.
Ik heb het wit geverfd en er scrapbook papier ingeplakt. Omdat ik het er zo leuk uit vond zien heb ik zo’n bekend Ikea laden kastje met bijpassend papier beplakt.
Here they are together. My sewing corner in my craft room is now nearly finished. I like the freshness of the color combination. The colors in this part of the room are a bit louder than the more vintage pinks and purples I use in my paper section.
Mijn naaihoekje op zolder begint nu al aardig zijn definitieve vorm te krijgen. Ik gebruik in deze hoek wat fellere kleuren dan de meer vintage tinten in mijn papierhoekje. Ik word helemaal vrolijk van deze kleurtjes.
All in all I don’t think I spent more than € 20 in this run through the thrift store and I got a lot of nice useful things in return.
And that is why we keep going back there, isn’t it.

Wat grappig, ik heb dezelfde ervaring met de kringloop in de vakantie. Normaal heb ik na een uur rondzoeken 1 leuk ding, meestal een tijdschrift en tijdens de vakantie had ik ook steeds leuke dingen. Het komt er niet van om daar weer over te bloggen, misschien moet ik ook aan zo'n wekelijks evenement meedoen
. Leuk dat je gelijk alles weer gerevamped hebt. Ik heb dit weekend een hoge boekenkast via MP gekocht, als het goed is, want ik moet juist de hoogte in werken in mijn kabinetje, toch grappig dat we nu allebei weer aan de kasten zitten 
! Je projecten zijn weer geslaagd. Ik kan me zo goed voorstellen dat je helemaal blij wordt van die vrolijke kleurtjes. En die knopjes vind ik ook heel leuk!
Mmm morgen weer aan het werk hè? Dat gaat niet meevallen. Maar het wordt de hele week prachtig weer, dus als ik je een tip mag geven: niet te laat naar ophouden met werken en in de stad lekker op een terrasje gaan zitten eten, dan hou je het vakantie gevoel nog even vast! Ik wens je een goede start van de week!

You are so creative! I can only imagine the race through the thrift shop! Isn't it discouraging when you really don't have enough time to stay all day and browse? Especially when the place is chock-full-o-treasures! I never feel like I've seen everything, when I know it has to be a quick trip!

I love your scrapbook furniture look! I did that with my coffee table and cubicles for my crafts. I don't seem to have good luck at our thrift store. Either I'm going at the wrong time on the wrong day. Or it just isn't one of the good ones.
