Hello my sweet friends. How are you doing? Is the turkey thawing in the fridge, your oven making overtime, your kitchen smelling delicious? Or are you quietly sitting underneath the Christmas tree, contemplating the true meaning of Christmas?
Or are you like me, doing none of the above although it is on my list and instead still finishing up some Christmas crafts because you just can’t stop…..
Look what I finished yesterday!
My Christmas Tree Skirt:
You see in all of those pictures of the Christmas tree I have shown here before I had carefully cropped out the bottom. I had to hide the fact that my tree still had bare legs. Yes sirree she was styled to a tee on top but her bottom so to speak was nekkid.
Well naked except for all the unsightly electrical wires, sticking out of her ‘behind’. Well I couldn’t let her be part of the Christmas celebrations only half dressed. So I set out to sew her a skirt.
Staying true to my principle this year of simple, easy and cheap, but still nice, sparkly and a little glamorous I came up with this.
I used a moving blanket as fabric (they cost next to nothing and I loved the grey ruggedness of it), and embellished that with white and silver ribbon and some white felt stars.
The ‘fabric’ of these blankets is actually recycled fibers that are kept together by a pattern of stitches. When you start cutting it, it frails like crazy, but one round with my serger fixed that.
Hand stitching the stars was the most labor intensive part of the whole project. But I did it last night while watching my all time favorite (Christmas) movie Love Actually, so it wasn’t too bad.
So now I can finally show you my Christmas tree from top to bottom (except somehow the top got cut off in this picture, but you have seen that anyway….).
Yeah major improvement.
Ok, this is it, I am done crafting for Christmas. All the things I didn’t do that were on my list will be put on next years list. And I must see if I can muster up some creativity in the kitchen now.
If I don’t ‘see’ you anymore before Christmas, let me wish you a merry Christmas now, and truly and deeply meaningful holidays!!!

I love this! So many different textures. Just lovely.
Just beautiful, Marianne!
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
XO,
Jane
