Hello my friends, I truly hope you all had a blessed Christmas and are not yet stressing out over getting all the Christmas decorations put away. I am having the week off, and I am enjoying doing absolutely nothing.
Everyday I take a look at that ridiculous list I made of things I was going to do over the Christmas holiday and than I let out a big sigh, and walk away…
Not so good for my productivity but it feels so good, I can truly recommend it.
Something else I can recommend is looking back at this past year with a soft hart. It is so easy to look back and focus on the things you didn’t do, the good intentions you didn’t follow up on, the plans that crashed before you even started….
It is so much better for your soul and spirit to look back at what DID get done. So let’s make it a tradition. Last year I did my top 10 Makeover Projects of 2009, and this time I am looking back at some of my favorite projects of 2010.
So here we go:
In the category: Have Suitcase, Will Travel:
I made a little Bedside table out of a little ole table and a suitcase and a whole lot of white paint.
In the category: The Power of Plaster:
I dipped some fake flowers in plaster and made these stunning Plaster Roses.
In the category: Turn Waste into Treasure:
I used a heap of twigs leftover from pruning a tree and turned them into a twig wreath. And then I just kept giving the wreath makeovers…..
In the category: Power tools WRACK!!
This project really stretched my DIY muscles but I think my IKEA Billy Makeover turned out really well.
In the category: My Love did it all:
This one was actually a project that I might have dreamed up, but My Love did all the hard work. We turned an old garden shed into a pond.
In the category: My sister gave it a thumbs up:
I think this might easily be my favorite project of 2010. I gave a really tiny room a big makeover and did a lot of different projects in this one. And now we have a lovely little guest room that makes me proud.
In the category: My new addiction – Doilies:
I had a lot of fun with old doilies this year. I turned them into lanterns, baskets and Christmas ornaments.
In the category: The magic is in the distressing:
This project had me in doubt. Fail or Succes. But you guys gave it two thumbs up and so my distressed sunbeam mirrors stayed.
In the category: This one unleashed my Inner Stylist:
An old colonial wardrobe got the White Paint Treatment. Wallpaper added a little romantic surprise to the inside. And then I let my inner stylist loose ![]()
In the category: I hope I made my mother proud:
Some years ago I saved my parents dining room set from the landfill in the nick of time. This summer I gave the first chair a makeover. With a vintage postal bag I made myself a postal inspired chair.
So which is your favorite of these projects? What kind of projects would you like to see more of on this ole little blog of mine? And tell us if you did a Top 2010 Makeover Post too, so we can stop by.
Love,
