It is going to be a beautiful sunny day here, so what better festive color to dress in, than in white, it is such an airy, light and free color isn’t it.
That’s what I love so much about white. It sets the mood instantly without screaming for your attention. White is cool and serene and at the same time it is warm and cozy. White can be the center of attention all in itself and be the perfect backdrop for any color you want to put in the spotlight. White is versatile.
I think white is one of the colors that is at its best when it is combined with more whites. So many other colors don’t play well you mix different tones and hues of it, but white is the perfect ‘ton-sur-ton’ color, which is just a fancy French way of saying that you can put different color tones together.
I have always loved white, but there have been times when I thought I loved color more. I am going back to white, more and more. If you are one of my faithful followers you’ll know that, I have been painting things white here and there and everywhere lately. White never fails me, even the dullest of things becomes glamorous in a fresh coat of white paint.
And yet for all my love of white, I will never have one of those ‘all white’ houses, – I love color too much for that too – I love the way my ever growing white background allows me to play with any color touches that tickle my fancy.
White is such a great backdrop for any other color.
That’s why there definitely will be some white in my giveaway too!
You hadn’t forgotten about than one now, did you. In order to celebrate that I have now over 1000 followers (still blows my mind, unbelievable!!!) and to express my utter and heartfelt appreciation for all of you I am having a very special giveaway.
I am not going to reveal what’s in it, you’ll have to trust me on that one. But you can expect some industrial coastal cottage, something old and something new, something bought and something blue. There will be ‘Songbird originals’ and some Songbird loves, like flowers and birds and you will know it came from the Netherlands too.

White is always good in my love of the sea side cottage look. Something from the Netherlands sounds so enticing. My ancestors came from there way back in the 1800's. I have a habit of spray painting stuff white. It just makes ugly or outdated stuff pretty and new again.
I Love white! You can do anything with white! Dress it up by adding lots of color … add depth by combining different shades and tones .. it is so fresh, clean and new!
I used to have an all white house, but like you my mood and style changed and now I'm all about color, but maybe I'll venture back into the world of white someday….who knows. It's so enticing!

I find I'm bringing more and more white into my home, too, Marianne! I do like it as a "base" to the house and I guess it all started two years ago when I got my first white slipcover.

To me, white is calming and serene, and works so very well with my favorite "color," aqua, for a lovely coastal ambiance. I am currently looking at a (white wicker) basket on my dresser that is overflowing with some pieces of silk and lace in it, all different shades of white, and they just look so nice in their tonal beauty.

Your home with all the whites is so beautiful! I only have a little white in my home. (My husband doesn't like it.) All the trim and doors in our home are white so every other color has to go with it. My favorite white thing is pillow cases.
