Fall Polka Dot Table Setting

Good evening my sweets. How was your weekend? Did you rest, play, shop, sleep?

I had a lot of fun. I started up about four new craft projects at once, so my attic, my basement and my living room are all a big hot mess.

But I did manage to clear the table long enough to have some table scaping fun.

After all, all that ‘reclaiming of my kitchen’ stuff does need to result in some good food. And good food deserves a nice table.

So we invited some friends over for a simple meal, that we served up real fancy.

I was looking for a piece of linen in my craft room, to use as a table cloth. I know it is in there somewhere, but things are getting seriously out of hand so I couldn’t find it. Instead I found this polka dot fabric. I think I bought it to use as the lining of a purse that has yet to be sewed.

I just plunked it on the table as a runner. No finished edges, no ironing, just a folded up bit of fabric.

No one noticed the fringe Glimlach, and it did look real nice.

My love and I usually eat in front of the television. I know, shame on us, but it is the time we catch up on the TV series that we recorded the night before and we really like it. So on any average day I don’t set the table at all.

Maybe that’s why I love to have people over for diner so much. Gives me a change to dress up the table and play stylist.

BTW I think my new bowls are looking very nice.

Two old brown (medicine) bottles served as vases for some white roses from the garden. Every year I am so lucky to be able to use these beautiful white roses in my Fall décor. That rose bush is amazing, it is one of the first to start to bloom, and she continues right until the frost kills off the buds. We are not a hundred percent sure which variety it is. My mother in law bought it just days before she unexpectedly died, so we just call it “mom’s rose”, and treasure it as a special gift and memory. But I did a little research and it probably is the climbing variation of “Rosa Schneewitchen” (that would be Snow White’s Rose).

Yeah, simple easy food on a festive table with wonderful company to share it with. My kind of Saturday evening.

And a Sunday of making a glorious mess while crafting. My kind of weekend.

So now tell me how was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting?

And did you notice. I did something different with my pictures for a change. No border, some collages, some rounded corners and an even bigger size than normally. Like?

Beautiful Marianne! I love the polka dotted fabric. In fact I think I have the same fabric. Is that pink dots? I bought some like that with another brown & pink fabric to make a purse with some time ago. How coincidental is that?

Love the pictures, especially the collages. Did you do that with Picnik? I almost always use large pictures on my blog because I love to be able to see the details.

    Have a great week!
