Sparkly Festive Table Setting ~ 12 Days of Christmas Decorations / Day 8

Today’s subject is wining and dining, Christmas style. I played around with one of my favorite hobbies: dressing up the diner table.

I love playing like this. Decorating your table is such a wonderful way to try out styles, combinations and new colors without committing to something for a long time.

This time I combined my current love for natural materials and a simple look, with my ever present need for a little glamor and bling.

Just a ‘runner’ of greens down the table with lots of candles in glass and mercury silver. I love how the silver and the glass just pick up the sparkle of the candles so that the whole table becomes a glittering and shiny fest.

This was easy to pull together. The most time went into shining my two sets of silverplated salt and pepper shakers.

When I started I did not have a clear idea of what I was going to do. I just started somewhere, in this case with the double layer of white table cloths and the natural greens in the middle. It all just evolved from that.

I do not own a lot of dinnerware. Just our day-to-day whites you see here and my mom’s China you saw yesterday. No special holiday plates in this house, only one set of silverware, just a few white tablecloths (and a stash full of fabric that I can use, remember my Fall Polkadot table setting?), and only a very small collection of things like napkins and napkin rings (and those are even mostly homemade like my lace napking rings).

I have learned though, that you really don’t need all that extra hoopla to dress your table festively and beautifully. Just take a few extra moments, play around with what you have and use your imagination, it is all that it takes.

The table is set, let the guests arrive…..

If you are like me and into this game of table setting you should check out the Christmas table setting linky party at The Lettered Cottage this Monday. You’ll find me there too.
