Summer Bed Room Decorating

Summer has moved into the bedroom…..

I couldn’t help myself. I wanted a bit more beach, coastal, nautical decorating. However you call it, for me the beachy look is the epitome of summer. And I am craving summer inside and out. So I spent some time in the bedroom and added some touches there too.

The big straw hat, was a gift from my sister. It had been hanging in her bedroom for years, with pink fabric roses and a big pink ribbon on it. It was the eighties people and the romantic look was everywhere. My sister dug it up out of her storage and gave it to me. “I thought you could do something with this”. I must say this time it had me wondering myself. The thing looked quite ugly. But in good old crafter fashion I didn’t throw it away.

Today I was looking for something to add to my repurposed wood headboard and came across it.

I thought maybe, just maybe…..

I think I spent almost an hour peeling of the flowers and the ribbon, and then it was easy sailing.

Ah sailing. I guess if this bedroom takes me back to the summers I spent on an old sailing ship, it is working its magic.

While I was working on my bedroom, I was thinking B&B, luxurious hotel room or cozy country inn.

I should treat myself as a guest in my own bedroom. So I started with a good cleaning, after all I wouldn’t be happy to stay the night in a dirty hotel room either. And then I put on the clean sheets, added inspiring books to browse, fresh flowers, little decorative touches and just enough accessories to make it look as if I (the guest) had just stepped outside and would be back soon.

The B&B at home look. I am loving it.

This summer brings me blue and white with some touches of red in my bedroom. And it looks exactly as I would love my next hotel room to look.

That headboard is proving quite the success. It demands enough attention to give the room character and pizazz, while at the same time allowing me to dress it up in different moods.

Speaking of pizazz, I think my shiny red bag, has some too.

So what’ye think?

Lemme hear……

Speaking of your bedroom, you know your totally fabulous wardrobe that you put the gorgeous bird wallpaper in? I really really want to do a project similar to that for my daughter in her bedroom. I’ve scoured the web and can’t find any wallpaper similar to yours. Who makes it, can you tell me?

    Thanks so much!!

      Thanks for the bedroom love.
The wallpaper I used is from a Dutch brand called Pip Studio. They have so many lovely motives that would be wonderful in a girls room. They ship internationally too (I think).
You can find them here: http://www.pipstudio.com/en/wallpaper/
Good luck with your girl’s room.
