Creating Project Galleries for the blooagh

Okay ladies, this one is for the observant readers. Seen anything different here on the site? No? Don’t blame you. This change is rather obscure and yet potentially powerful.

I have been working behind the scenes on this:

decorating gallery

Project galleries for my and your viewing pleasure. I had those old category pages that I made with one of those Linky party tools. But they where highly dependent on me updating them. Aaahhh, I think the last time I did that was around Christmas.

I decided I needed something better. Something that would run itself once created. And I hope they will.

So far I have started on two categories (you can find them in my navigation menu just underneath the header):

I ♥ Decorating

I ♥ Crafting

You will find various galleries underneath. I used a plugin to keep those galleries updated. It means that every new post that I add to a certain category will automatically show up in the gallery. Neat he. I used a plugin for that called “Category Thumbnail List”.

Mantel Gallery

When you start to browse the galleries (and I hope you will) you might notice that they stop somewhere around the end of 2010. That’s because I needed to recategorize all my posts and that is how far I have come. And not all the categories are in there yet.

I’ll work my way back until the beginning (or at least until the start of the interesting posts), so the galleries will become larger at the front (with new posts) and at the back (with old posts) automatically. And some new ones will pop up once I have the posts that go in there correctly tagged.

So what do you think? Handy dandy feature on my site? What other galleries shall I create? I am thinking furniture makeovers, blog design tips, recipes.

Let me know what you want to find easily here on the site. I aim to please!! And have fun browsing.

I'll love you so much if you share this post...

  1. I love this idea, but I can’t find anything that works for regular blogger. What I really want to do is add my last posts in a collage at the beginning of my blog. Any ideas on that?

What do you mean Marty? Do you have an example of what you would like to do? I think even on Blogger most anything can be done, but it will more often be manual labor. Give me some more details of what you would like, and if more people are interested maybe I could find out for you guys and do a DIY Blog Design post about it.

  2. I think it’s pretty nice to organized like that.
I can’t get organized in the world around me, let alone in my virtual world.

    It’s all greek to me!

  3. Great idea! I’d like to see Vignettes as a category. You have such lovely vignettes!

  4. Hi Marianne…I saw your post on FB so came over to have a closer look. I love this plugin. I also have a few questions. I hope you don’t mind… What plugin are you using for your blog roll? I installed a couple of different ones but they slowed down my load time too much. Your blog loaded very quickly. Question 2: how did you get your Google Friend Connect box over here? And last do your below post links to FB, Pinterest and Twitter show up on your feed? Mine do not and I just don’t know why. I did not move myself from Blogger to WP. I had help and I’m afraid I am clueless about some things. I felt I knew more about Blogger and could do more myself. Thanks in advance for your help!

  5. I echo Ann’s question – what plug in are you using for your blog roll?

I love your new additions, Marianne. They are wonderful.

  6. This is a great tool for us all. Thank you so much for all your time and effort in organizing it. I hope to be back when I have more time to browse.
