Howdie doodie sweeties. What’s cooking?
We are getting a taste for summer over here in the lowlands. The weather is just absolutely gorgeous and promises to stay that way over the summer holiday. I will definitely be enjoying the opportunity to spent lots of time outdoors. Got a few projects on the stove and some on the back burner that I want to tackle. Nothing better than an extra long weekend to get some things done.
But doing nothing from time to time is quite fulfilling too. Especially when you have a nice warm sundrenched place to do it in.
Like here:
My little guest room hasn’t seen a guest in quite some time now, but it has been used extensively nevertheless. I turned it into a reading room. (see here for the full reveal of the guest room and a link list of the various projects in here)
With lots of soft cushions the bed is a very comfy snuggle in sofa.

And with some fresh flowers and a stack of magazines it has all the ingredients for an afternoon of lingering and lounging (usually accompanied with some chocolate and hot tea but those didn’t make it into the pictures).
I keep all my home décor books here. So whenever I feel I need some inspiration or a dose of beauty, this is where I turn too.
The pillows are a mish mash of some vintage finds, Ikea covers, quickie sewing projects from my fabric stash and two faux-grain sack pillows from H&M home line.
I love the fact that this little room in my house gets so much use. I have found My Love here with his study books too. Don’t know if it is actually beneficial to his studying but at least he is doing it in style.
The only problem with having a super duper comfortable reading spot, is that there is always the risk of dozing off into a delightful nap. Ah well, the books will be there when I wake up…..

Marianne, that is absolutely the perfect reading nook. I can imagine myself settling in there with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book or magazine.
You did a lovely job with the space.
