Christmas Mantel in Sparkly Red and White

Christmas Decorations in Red, Silver and Gold

Hello visitor, be Welcome. If you came over from the Nesters Holiday Party we may not have met yet. I am Songbird (but since we are all friends here you can call me Marianne) and I am so glad that you came over to share a cuppa in my Christmas house.

Now what is that about a mantel and Christmas? Well if there is ever a time in the year that I want, I desire, no I crave for a real mantel above a beautiful fireplace it is at Christmas time. Ah the visions of real fires, beautiful full garlands and hanging stockings and the vignettes on top of that mantel. I want it so bad.

But we have central heating. No fireplace in our house. No mantel either.

But did you know a radiator could give you a place to decorate too? No? Well look here a silver, white and red corner on top of my radiator.

I basically gathered a lot of my glassware and filled it with snow and red bulbs. Add some lights, candles, mirrors and a berrie/mirrory garland and you’ve got a beautiful shelf (above a built in radiator).

You can never go wrong with apothecary jars. You can fill them with anything and they always look good (and do you see how that garland cleverly disguises the radiator knob, that thing really stretches my decorators muscles because it always sticks out like a sore thumb).

Here is another view of this corner of my room. Really how easy is this, just put some lights in a big vase, add a few red balls  and big effect for little work.

Well and if you don’t have a mantel you can use an old cupboard.

So look what I did with my new old white cupboard. I added some real pezzaz (is that how you write that, my spelling control doesn’t know it) to my living room with this silver and gold vignette.

I searched the house for every silver candle stick that I had (silver colored I mean, I don’t have real silver, it just looks that way). I was surprised myself how many there were lurking in cupboards. Then I took some gold Christmas balls of the tree and just put it all together.

My worn out little cupboard really has oomph now. She loves being the drama queen of my living room.

And I love the way the candles shine through the mercury glass.

Thank you for your visit! It was so nice to have you over. I hope to see you again soon. But in any case, let me just wish you a happy Christmas time with lots of love and laughter.

Everything looks so gorgeous. I love how you decorated that precious white side table that you shared on my blog a few weeks ago. It's always disappointing when you want to hang your stockings and you don't have a mantle. These are some great options.

    groetjes, Marjolijn
