The blog world is an amazing and crazy big world. One could get lost in there.
The blog world is also a village, maybe even just a street, filled with friends who love to sit at the kitchen table together, sip tea, talk paint and encourage each others new plans and projects.
I have been a part of this blog world for some years now, and some of my blog friends have become so dear to me that they are every bit as real to me as my IRL friends.
One of those blog friends is Marian aka Miss Mustard Seed.
I began following Miss Mustard Seed early on. She was so awesome that she drew me in to her blog immediately and I never left. She wasn’t as big back then though. In fact, even though she has always been a much more known blogger then me, I still dared to offer her a guest post with painting tips! Yes, imagine that, little old me giving away painting tips on THE Miss Mustard Seed’s blog. Wouldn’t dare to dream of doing something like that now.
Miss Mustard Seed, – Marian – has become our own, dear Blogging Rock Star.
I have been standing back in awe watching her star rise. And I have really cheered for her every bit of the way, because frankly if one person never needed any luck it was Marian. Wow can that woman work. The sheer number of projects she produces, – original, jaw-dropping projects – is amazing. She has a real life shop, she used to have an online shop, she has her own paint line now. And all the while she keeps speaking to us in her sweet, friendly and kind voice on her blog.
If only I had 10% of her energy and stamina…..
And now she has a book. A real book. A home-decor-put-it-on-your-coffee-table book
Boy does she have a book!
It has risen to the number one of my favorite home decor books in a flash.
You might now that I have a thing for home decor books. I love them. I can never have enough of time (although My Love tends to disagree with that part). Home decor books are escapes, little vacations in a busy day. They give inspiration and add beauty to my life.
But truth be told, sometimes those books can leave you feeling empty, unsatisfied and inadequate. With all the pretty, styled pictures in those books, it is easy to feel that your own home comes lacking. Lacking in class, finesse and style.
Or sometimes those books feel a bit empty, a bit light headed. They are filled with pretty pictures but the words have little meaning. You don’t even read the words anymore. Too many plain adjectives ‘pretty, rustic, vintage, quaint, charming’ etc. Those books are easily put aside and sometimes even easily forgotten.
Not Marian’s book. This one has it all. There are the pretty pictures of Marian’s home. So many pretty pictures that you want to start decorating a pretty corner in your own home immediately.
But not only pretty pictures. There are also pictures showing you how to achieve certain effects. There are tutorials in there. You can learn from the master herself.
And then there are the words.
Oh, the words!
I can almost hear Marian talking to me. As that friend at my kitchen table, looking at me over the steam of our hot tea. Telling me that it is okay to try and make my home beautiful. That it doesn’t have to happen all over night. That you can always do something, anything, that will make you start enjoying your home. That painting, or sewing, or decorating isn’t that difficult, that I can do it, and that she will help me.
Thank you so much sweet Miss Mustard Seed for Inspiring Me!
