Good day my friends. Long time no see. How is the new year treating you? Over here in the low lands things have gotten stormy. Outside the weather is wild and grey, lots of rain, brutal winds and grey skies every day. Cycling to work is a real challenge these days. Knowing that I have to wear full rain gear and work extra hard to conquer my uphill route, really does not help in motivating me to go to the office.
You know what does help? Looking at these pretty Spring flowers. They bring the promise of better days with sun and light and soft breezes. I hope my pretty bouquet will help you on this winter day too.
The new year came, and so did the resolutions to lead a healthier more active life. So on most days I have been a good girl and ignored the parked car and told myself that I needed the exercise. Did you make any new years resolutions? Have you made plans for a different 2015?
My head is always full of good intentions. I love a fresh start, and no better fresh start than a brand new year.
So I have promised myself to make 2015 a good year, a very good year. I know I will need to be more organized, more disciplined and develop some strong routines. I am working a lot more hours this year, and of course I have not really dropped anything from my to-do list. I tried, I really did. But things just sneaked back on the list when I wasn’t looking.
I think I’ll use you all to help me get through the year. Show you where I am doing okay, doing better, need improvement or a downright kick in the butt.
These are the things that I am focusing on:
Eat more good stuff, eat less bad stuff.
Drink more water
Make plenty of time for laughing, living, being with friends and family
Spend less time moving stuff around and more time creating
Pretty ambitious list don’t you think? Pretty vague too. But I don’t want to make it more clearer, I like my goals this way. This time around I have not written out any of these goals in more detail. I have not added any ‘success markers’ or time schedules. I have not worked out in detail how I am going to do them. I did that in the past. You know, followed all those rules, that tell you that you have to write everything out in great detail, make it into achievable steps and set dates for when a specific goal needs to be attained. Maybe that works for some, but not for me. Made me feel like a failure way to fast and way too easily. I like the idea that I can begin working on these goals every day anew, without ever being behind schedule.
This is real life after all and I am not trying to mould myself into some image of perfection. I just want to feel my best, look my best, and do the best I can, right here where I am in my life right now.
The first week of the year has been focused on getting a morning and evening routine going that makes sure I get out of the house on time, that I am and look ready for an office day, that I have made sure that eating and drinking right is easy and that when I come home again, my house greets me and it feels good to walk through the door. So far so good. Didn’t fall off the wagon very far 😉
So how about you? Are you a goal setter? A goal achiever? Did you make any resolutions? Have any tips?
I’d love to hear from you.
