Isn’t that the longest blogtitle you have ever read? But I need it today because I want to show you two things at the same time.
You may remember that I am living with a big orange elefantin my living room.
I am still not a fan of this big orange chair with his modern lines and slick designer style. It kind of clashes with my preference for a light beachy style. But as I wrote before the chair came with My Love and he (=My Love) is definitely worth the sacrifice of living with this orange beast.
And all during winter I can really handle the chair. The orange looks quite good with my browns and beiges I use in my Fall and winter decorating. But every year come Spring I begin to resent its orangeness all over again.
The other weekend I had had enough. Because look at that cutenes that is standing next to the chair. I found this perfect vintage box at the Flea market, that I wanted to use for magazines. Next to the orange chair it just disappeared and didn’t come to live as I had imagined. So in a moment when My Love wasn’t watching I started to dress the chair in white sheets. Just to see how it would look.
And yes I know I totally overexposed this picture tremendously, but look at that lovely whiteness. I really think I could grow to love this chair in white.
My Love walked in while I was pinning the sheets at the back of the chair. He wasn’t amused. But he did agree to live with it for a week or two to see if he could get used to seeing the chair in white and in fabric instead of in orange leather.
I really hope he will get used to it, so I can start making a slipcover for real, because I really like this lighter, cooler look in the warmer months. And then when the cold weather returns so would the warmer colors in my decor. What do you think? Agree with me that the orange needs to go in the summer months?
Ok back to my Flea Market find. Look at this old box. And that lovely kitten on it. The box used to contain some sort of silver polish and the cat was their signature mark.
Isn’t it cute my little kitty, washing it paws.
And with my chair dressed in white I think I have a nice marriage going on in my living room. Those two, very old, and very modern look like they like each other. They accentuate each other.
Yes, looking at this picture puts me in a good mood. My two biggest home decor loves combined. An old flea market find and a white slipcover. I love it.
So got any tips on how to convince My Love that he really should put me to work on sewing a proper slipcover?
And do you and your guy always see eye to eye on decorating issues? And if not how do you resolve the conflicting opinions?
