Howdie folks. Welcome to day 3 of 12 Days of Christmas decorating.Â
Today’s project is a craft project. I made an easy and quick Noel Christmas banner.
It involved fabric and thread, burlap and buttons and some ribbons and lace. All of my favorite craft materials combined. And lots of glue.Â
I started out with cutting my burlap into shape. Quick and dirty cutting here, I know I was going to fray the edges anyway. To prevent the burlap from fraying too much I stitched a  border all around on my sewing machine. I went around twice once with a straight stitch and once with a zigzag. That will stop any fraying from going too far.Â
My sewing machine didn’t like the burlap one bit, so it gave me lots of attitude. And what do you do with someone that gives you an attitude? Right ignore them.Â
So the remainder of the project was simply glued on with an all-purpose craft glue.Â
I cut a piece of fabric from a dress I sewed years ago (no way I could fit in that baby anymore, but the red linen is still gorgeous) and glued it on. I cut letters from some print fabric, and on they went. And then I just kept on gluing ribbons and lace until I liked the arrangement.Â
I hand stitched the button and the crosses, but that was super fast.Â
I glued the letters and stars to the burlap ribbon, I added a black paperclip for extra security and because it looks good. Â
The banner is hanging on my hutch now. The hutch is still very much sporting a beachy look inside. But not for long, it is on my list of things to tackle.Â
On the same nails that are holding up the banner I hung a quick sash. Just a branch of evergreen, and some ornaments tied together with string. Easy but it finished the look big time.Â
Yeah, my hutch loves being included in the Christmas atmosphere and now that she is sporting her new light look she wears it well (just click the link if you want to know more about how I gave a dark colonial hutch a makeover with the help of milk paint ).
I love the look of mixed media projects, but if you follow the rules when making them, they can take up a lot of time. By not sewing the fabric but instead gluing it I saved myself a lot of time.Â
And you can use up all the little scraps in your craft room with a banner like this. Gotta love that too.
And now I am wondering what else is being shared today among the 12 Days of Christmas Decorating bloggers.Â
Let’s go and find out.Â
