Good evening my friends. The last 10 days of my blogging marathon are here (I’ll give you day 31 for free), and so is my Fall vacation.
Time to up the ante and go for a big bang finish. I intend to get a big job done. Maybe not the most glamorous, show stopping job, but definitely a job I really want to do.
Paint just about all the woodwork in the house.
I had to look for old pictures to show you the yellow woodwork in my house. In recent pictures I had always cropped it out. I think this one is from Fall 2008
All of our woodwork, window frames, doors, stairs, trims etc are the same color. A very creamy white, or actually more of a creamy yellow. It looked good when we painted everything when we moved in 8 years ago, not so good anymore. I have really grown tired of that color and can’t wait to paint everything a nice and neutral and soothing white.
Our downstairs hallway, two doors, trim and the door to the living room.
In the next week I’ll be painting 12 doors, 7 window frames (some really big ones) and a lot of surrounding trim. With one day of rest before I go back to work, I’ll have to do it all in 9 days. That’s prepping, priming when necessary, and painting at least two top coats. Boy do I have my work cut out for me.
I am leaving the two flights of stairs for another time, because I haven’t made up my mind about them, but all the rest of the yellow has to go! Pronto!
The big window in the living room. Yellow woodwork next to white plastic windows. Just as it was in my bedroom. It’s gotta go, people, it will go!
I am quite anxious about it. I know that once I start I need to get going and finish it, or we’ll be left with an absolute mess, but I also know that I am bound to hit glitches and bumps in the road and this might just be too big of a job to chew in one week.
The only room where the woodwork has already been painted is my bedroom. It was amazing how those white plastic windows that I always hated with a vengeance just blended in when the surrounding wood was white. Can’t wait to have all my windows look this good (although they will still be plastic ).
But I am going to cut that whole painting project up in bits and pieces and give it my all time best.
Just think Christmas in a freshly painted house. It doesn’t get better than that.
Bedroom door before and after. Almost every door is like this, with panels and three little windows.
I’ll keep you posted on my progress and if I can, I’ll share some painting tips along the way.
Wish me luck….!
And while I am painting my little heart out, y’ll could be working on your own projects cause remember Saturday 29. October is the Get it Done! linky party. Is anyone planning on linking up? Or will I be all be my lonesome when I link up my painting project?????
I am writing a series of 31 days to Get it Done! You can find all the posts in this series here.
On the first day I explained in detail what this series is about and what I am going to do, find that post and all the posts since then in order here.
