The first real day of my series on How to Get Things Done! This whole idea of writing this series is pretty intimidating to me. So I thought I’d better make it easy on myself
and start small…
Last year it wasn’t until November 2 that I brought out the Fall Decorations.
I thought it would be a good idea to begin my series of Getting Things Done! by making sure that this year I was ahead of the game. Besides there is nothing I like more than to play around and create little cozy corners in my house.
I showed you my Fall Mantel last week. But that was the extent of my Fall decorations so far. Next to that were still my summer pillows and you could still find some odd sea shells lying around.
I made a couple of simple vignettes, that I tried to tie in with my Mantel decoration. Lot’s of browns, some black and some elements that will make my man happy.
Just simple, easy, not to demanding.
Like using a beer bottle as a candlestick. The handsome guy in the background is an distant relative of My Love. Although we don’t really know the guy, I thought he looked kind of fitting in this vignette.
That beautiful wooden box, used to belong to my grandmother. It was one of the few things my father brought home from his parents. I think my grandmother used it as a box to house her sewing supplies. I never met her, but I have been told she was the sweetest lady.
Of course the pillows had to change too. I made these pillows two years ago to match a Fall quilt. I still really like them, all that tweed and wool just embodies Fall for me.
Of course there had to be pumpkins…
I even added a little vignette made especially for My Love.
Look who has joined us in our living room:
The Boss himself is proudly displayed. My Love was so surprised when he saw that I used his latest music purchase in a vignette. I am so scoring points here ladies, with all of this manly decorating of mine.
(Of course don’t tell my guy that I am going for bonus points that I can use when I go all out on the decorations with Christmas ).
But I am kind of digging myself how the colors of that DVD box just match all of those neutrals that I threw together in a little basket.
No Fall without candle light…….
Look in the corner is my Fall Mantel. Doesn’t it just all tie in?
I think so. I am rather pleased with the cohesive look I have going on this year. Even if it is darker, bolder and less romantic than my usual white décor.
This was an easy start into this series. But a start nonetheless. And sometimes that is all that it takes..
To just start…
To start easy….
October 2 and the house is ready for Fall.
Not a bad way to kick off this series…….
