Wow the first quarter of the year is already behind us. Time to take a look back and see what 2012 has brought me so far.
Of course when I look back at the this year so far I can’t help focusing on the biggest change it brought us. We lost our dear old father (in-law). He had a long and well-lived life which is a comfort but losing him is still a big loss to us all. We miss him dearly and are still adjusting to not having him around anymore.
The day I spent at the beach with My Love has helped us both to remember and feel that life goes on.
But 2012 has brought us blessings and fun too.
The year started with winter crafts. First I took a chance to do a little for my feathered friends and ‘bake’ them a cake:
And then I let the light shine on those dark,, cold February evenings:
I played around quite a lot too this past months. My favorite past-time decorating, creating vignettes or setting up cute decorative displays. Whatever you want to call this thing I do with candles and flowers and lanterns and cute items. I think I even found a way to describe my style of decorating: Light Decorating as in keeping it easy, simple and uncomplicated and yet going for fun and beautiful.
Of course there was at least one all white vignette:
And a matching white winter mantel display
I couldn’t go too long without setting up the table a little special. This time I experimented with a black and white theme:
Everybody gets a gift of a bunch of flowers every once in a while that doesn’t exactly make your heart sing. Breaking up that bouquet can totally save the day.
That winter mantel couldn’t last too long. It got a Spring makeover.
And then of course I had to bring a bit more uncomplicated Spring/ Easter decorating inside:
And then there was my craft room. I started with setting myself a Craft Room Challenge: use it or loose it. As in start using those supplies in your craft room or get rid of them. Well the challenge worked….. Somewhat. Except that instead of actually working my way through the first challenge (sewing a bunch of clothes out of gorgeous fabric I already have), I ended up giving my complete craft room a makeover.
That one is still a work in progress, but progress has been made so far. Let me show you how far I‘ve gotten so far.
The first project was a chalk paint makeover of an old Maids Closet.
Then I looked for desk makeover Inspirations, because I had this little office desk that desperately needed it.
Since this was my second project using chalk paint I decided to write an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Review that got quite a positive reception.
And the last project I finished was another postal sack chair makeover.
I guess I’ve had a some busy months. Wow I even surprised myself to see how much already got done this year. So I guess there is only one more thing to say: bring on the next quarter!!!!
