I just realized something. In between all the excitement over my 1000 followers milestone I totally forgot to show you a little table setting I did. And it was such a nice one.
The blue bells were in full swing in my garden then and they got center stage. They smelled so good it made my whole house smell wonderful. Which was a good thing because that way my guests got sidetracked from noticing there was a distinct lack of odors from cleaning products.
In fact my blue bells were so fragrant that we had to take them off the table when we served diner, because their scent sort of clashed with the smell of my casserole.
But they looked wonderful as a first impression. And we all know how important first impressions are.
Although the second impression of this particular tablescape wasn’t half bad either.
My napkin rings got some appreciative looks too. From the ladies in the company of course (I don’t think there are many men who give a hoot about napkin rings, just saying).
I made stiffed napkin rings from vintage lace. They partnered up really well with my linen napkins (that I sewed along with the placemats from a fabric remnant in my stash).
I love the details in the lace. Especially that little button in the middle. That is just too cute.
This are real napkin rings, as in they are hard and keep their shape and can easily be used over and over. (I think you can all figure out how to make these, but let me know if you want a tutorial. I aim to please).
Speaking of napkin rings. I found out that some mother of pearl ones I had, could double perfectly as little candle holders.
The little votive candles stayed snug as a bug in them. Cool isn’t it when you think up little tricks like this and they actually work.
As you can clearly see these pictures were taken before the guests arrived. I didn’t shove all that stuff there in the background underneath the couch yet. Yeah, just being honest here, after all tablescaping is all about keeping up appearances, isn’t it
But I love setting the table like this, even if it is for a very informal get-to-gether with friends and I don’t serve anything more fancy than an easy casserole dish and a salad.
So what do you think? Like my lace napkin rings? And my blue bells? And do you shove things under the couch before company comes?
