Move over Summer, Fall is here. And what a wonderful summer is has been! So much has happened, so many memories have been made! I squeezed every bit of summer time goodness out of the summer months and truly enjoyed my blog break. I hope you all had a wonderful time too.
As a welcome back to ya’ll, I thought I’d share some pretty vacation pictures. Once more I visited the US and did a tour of the western states. It was such a wonderful trip, even though forest fires made some of our plans go up in smoke.
For this Euro gal, the vastness, emptiness and rawness of American nature never seizes to amaze. And American culture might look a bit familiar, since we are bombarded with it every time we watch a movie or TV series, it is still very different from our way of living here on the old continent.
This trip truly was a break from everyday life. I came back exhausted and jet-lagged but also exhilarated, invigorated and full of fresh energy.
But summer wasn’t all pretty vacation pictures. Back home major things happened too. I’ll spare you the ugly before and even worse during pictures, but my garden got a major overhaul. Some serious equipment dug up all that was green and alive and left me with mountains of dirt and soil. Several dumpsters were filled with garden trash and cut down trees. Sand and mud were constants on my white floors. For weeks I had no fences and my backyard was open for all to see and enter.
But all that is good now. The serious work is all but finished and I have started my bit of making it look beautiful again and getting it ready for planting next year.
Prepare for garden projects coming up this Fall.
Speaking of Fall. I know it isn’t here yet on the calendar, but to me Fall starts on September 1. We’ve had a particular hot summer and in all truth I am ready for boots and sweaters, for candlelit evenings, for hot cocoa and pumpkin recipes, for Fall decorating and for colorful Fall forests.
My head is spinning with ideas for Fall projects. Of course I am a bad blogger and have not been preparing for Fall posts during the summer. Real time it is, and ever will be here on Songbird. But I hope to get a lot done, now that I have all that new energy.
So how was your summer? Did you do anything fun?
And are you ready for Fall, or hanging on to summer days with all you’ve got?
