I think I have done it. I didn’t really think this day would come, but is has. I thought I could go on forever, just skirting passed the issue, I couldn’t. My luck ran out, and now I need to pay attention.
My Love vetoed my last little decorating project.
I thought he wouldn’t notice, he did….
I thought he wouldn’t mind, he did……
I thought he’d approve, he didn’t…..
Our chrome and leather couch, the center of our compromise.
I tried to soften her up a bit more. I think she looks good all dressed up, nice and much more inviting.
I played around one afternoon and put this big white IKEA plaid over it, and added some more pillows.
A bit of soft furnishings for the serious couch.
I love the look….
I also love the fact that my bare arms and legs are not sticking to the leather anymore. Much more comfortable and hygienic in summer I think.
I tried to bring my love over to the bright side by doing this right after he had grumbled and moaned himself through another big-leather-washing-and-treating-session. I was all lovely and understanding and helpful “look honey, now I can just toss the quilt in the washer, this way you won’t have to treat the leather again soon”.
He wasn’t buying it.
He says, it looks odd and strange, and what’s the point of having a leather couch if you are going to cover it under a plaid.
I almost said “what’s the point of having a leather couch at all”, but that was a discussion we solved over 10 years ago, so I was smart and said nothing.
I guess, I can’t win this one. I’ll give in this round. Save up my bonus points for bigger issues.
But I love it……
So where do you stand, team Mrs. Songbird or team Mr. Songbird?
Nekkid leather or quilt-covered leather?
Do you agree there is no such thing as too many pillows and too soft a couch, or do you prefer the clean design too?
In this post: quilt, polka dot pillows, striped pillows IKEA; faux vintage sack pillows H&M home; round pattern pillows, home sewn by Mrs. Songbird.
