Day 4 already. Phew time sure flies when you are having fun.
Are you having fun? I sure hope so, because I am loving putting these Christmas posts together.
The last few days I have been crafting without a real goal in mind. Just letting my hands do the thinking and trying to come up with something easy and cheap, yet beautiful and worthwhile.
I think todays project, fits that bill too.
A red and white pineapple (oeps faulty Dutch translation creeping in) pinecone garland. The pinecones were gathered in the garden at work so they were free, I used some leftover white wall paint, a bit of ribbon from my stash, last years silver glass balls and a bag of little toadstools / mushrooms from a discount store.
Tie them all to a string and call it done.
I am not even sure how I am going to use this garland. I think it looks really nice as a centerpiece on the table, or maybe I’ll hang it underneath my faux mantel? Or tie it up in a circle as a wreath? Dunno, I just know it will find its proper place when I get on with my decorating.
I dipped the pinecones in some leftover – had become quite thick – wall paint. I thought a quick dip would do the trick. Bad idea, I shouldn’t have let my hands do ALL the thinking, because the paint is not adhering very good and they are shredding like crazy. I don’t mind the pinecones original color coming through, but I do mind the sweeping up I have to do whenever I move them. But I think they are worth it.
But if you are going to copy this, take a bit more time and just spray them white.
Red and white on natures elements. I am digging it.
So how are you guys doing with your Christmas decorating? Still waiting for Sinterklaas to leave the country (this is a question for the Dutchies among us), or have you decked the halls in al their splendor already? Are you still crafting too? Or did you start in September and are all finished by now?
