Welcome everyone to the Christmas Home Tour 2013 on Songbird. An especially warm welcome to everyone who came over from A Place for Us.
If you are here for the first time, you may not have realized it but you just arrived in Europe. Who would have thought that this Christmas tour of homes would involve international travel.
I am Marianne and I live, work and blog in the Netherlands.
And of course a warm welcome too to the followers of my 12 Days of Christmas Decorating series. We made it to the finish line together, yeah us.
Okay let’s get one with it.
Welcome to my home. Step on in, take a look around and make yourself comfortable.
Easy & Fast Luscious Christmas Wreath
My Christmas wreath on my door might give you an indication of what is to come inside. My Christmas decor is of the homemade, natural, rustic and easy type.
I love making little vignettes and creative displays, but I never spend a lot of time or money for that matter on them. Like the three easy Christmas vignettes I shared this year.
4 bottles + 4 candles = 1 pretty decoration
One tray and a casual collection of forest finds and glittery ornaments, oh and candles.
A vintage crate, lots of pine cones and various decorations and a string of lights.
I am what you might call a lazy decorator, although I prefer to call it a busy decorator. So most of my projects are easy, simple and rather quick to put together.
My crafting is no different. This year I whipped up a variety of decorations. All easy, fast and fun projects.
Like my crochet ornaments that actually do not involve any crochet activity:
The rustic Christmas garland that is hanging in front of our French doors:
And the little jingle bells hearts I made:
We don’t have a large house, like most Dutch houses we basically have one big room that is living room, dining room and family room in one. We live, work and play in this room, so it is the room where our Christmas decorations are concentrated.
My big beautiful Christmas tree is the center of attention.
Plaids and pillows are ready for snuggling and napping.
On the side table you can spot another little vignette I created.
Little deer with a driftwood tree under a chicken wire cloche
The deer is in good company of his friends who are wishing you a Merry Christmas in French.
Pillows from the H&M Home collection
In the center of our room stands a big colonial hutch. Just a few months ago this hutch used to be dark, brown and boring. This year I gave her a milk paint makeover and now she is the star of the room.
Go here for more information about the Noel Banner
And of course we couldn’t live with our big farmhouse style table in the middle of the room.
The table got a little decoration of her own.

And what would any self-respecting Christmas Home Tour be without at least one pretty bokeh shot.
On a shelf in the corner I create my ‘mantel’ decorations. This year’s mantel was an example of Pretty in White:
I made paper houses out of milk cartons and from my own designs. I will share the tutorial for how to make those little houses in a couple of days, so you’ll have to come back for that one.
Have you gathered by now that I love white? 😀

But this years accent color was red. And in one room in particular I added some warm red to set the mood.
I decorate my bedroom for Christmas too. It is my own personal retreat and I love to withdraw there and cuddle up between the blankets and pillows and revel in the twinkly lights atmosphere.
My starry, starry bedroom was shared here.
And that brings us to the end of this tour. I hope you enjoyed it and that you will return here for a visit after the Holiday frenzy is over.
Have a safe travel to the next stop of the Christmas home tour. Brittany from Pretty Handy Girl is opening her doors for you.

Thank you for all your hard work so that we too could be inspired! Each part is so you and so individual. I love how you decorate. It is my favorite glimpse into Holland!! And all that hard work on your hutch turned out a showpiece! It’s decor on display is perfect!
Thank you again for this gift following right on the tail of 31 days. I so appreciate it. 🙂
