Oh my friends, the sun is shining, the skies have been blue and I have finally put away my winter coat. And it is not coming back out again.
It is amazing how much better and energetic I feel now that the weather finally has turned here in the low lands. And I have been soaking it up, you better believe it.
The garden is a mess and needs serious attention, but we have made some headway. The shed has been cleared out, decluttered and reorganized. Now at least I can find my garden tools again. Always a good thing. We have also been planting. Two new trees have been bought, delivered and put in their new spot. When all things work out, the view at the houses behind us will be blocked by green trees soon.
Now for all those weeds…….
Inside I have been caught by the Spring cleaning bug too. Funny how that works. The weather is finally nice enough to spend time outside and then the urge hits me to clean and purge the house. But it was necessary. For months now I have been doing the ‘twist and hop‘ to get into my craft room. Do you know the ‘twist and hop’? It is when you first have to twist sideways to slide past some stumble blocks and then have to hop over other ones to progress to your destination. Yeah it was that bad. Everything that I thought needed a place in my attic, but didn’t actually have a place yet, landed on the little landing outside my craft room. I could barely get up the stairs and through the door.
But things are starting to look really nice again. I have been hitting my third zone of attention hard and soon the whole house will have received some extra TLC.
Ah, the energy Spring brings. My head has been filling up with ideas and plans and I even have started working on them. You see, the idea part has never been my problem, but the doing something with it, always is.
I had ideas for projects for the garden/ terrace / porch even way back in Fall, even bought the supplies. I thought I’d be a good girl and work on them during those boring winter months, so they’d be all new and ready to use when Spring would come around.
Did Not Happen.
But I solemnly vow, as you all are my witness, that those projects will be done before I leave on Summer vacation. You can hold me to that 😉
And if you need an accountability partner, tell me so in the comments and I’ll be there to kick you in action (virtually speaking of course).
As you have gathered by now. I have been playing with the table on my porch. Doing a bit of garden decorating. Yellow is the color of choice this time around. I surprised myself with that one. I am not the biggest fan of yellow. But when I was wandering the isles of the garden center, looking for some new fresh plants, I kept navigating back to these bright yellow pansies.
Maybe because for me yellow is the color of Spring. The yellow of daffodils and pansies, of wild buttercups and of crocuses. So after yearning for Spring for so long, it just had to be yellow.
And I am digging it.
I planted the daisies in a ‘new’ bottle crate I found at the Flea Market at Easter. It is originally a Belgium beer bottle crate. It is pretty rough around the edges, but that is just how I like it.
You have seen the daffodils before. It are the same ones that were all still green a week ago in my Spring decoration on the window sill. The blooms were getting to be so big and heavy that I risked toppling them over every time we opened or closed the blinds. They are happy to be outside now. They’ll last longer now too.
The little lacy lanterns are from Ikea. But you may have recognized those.
Ah Spring, how I love you.
And all of you too, of course….
