Ok you guys before I start to bore you to tears inspire you with all of my plans for 2010 I thought it was good to look back first. Making plans and resolutions always leaves me feeling a bit discouraged, so much to do, so much to improve (especially about myself) so much still to change. One could easily get depressed just thinking about it. So before I start to list my plans and things yet to accomplish I thought making a list of my accomplishments might be a good idea. So here a my top 10 makeover projects of 2009.
Hier is mijn top tien.
In the category: A little white paint will fix anything:
My ugly half bookcase turns into white beauty.
In the category: I was so scared to mess this up I almost cried.
This army trunk was an heirloom of my in-laws. I whitewashed it (which I had never done before), painted crate letters on it (which I had never done before either) and sewed pillows for it. In the end it wasn’t half as difficult as I had imagined and it turned out great, but boy did I sweat get nervous over this one
In the category: if you mess up you’d better get creative fast:
Only one day before a house guest arrived I decided to change the curtains in the guestroom, trusting my ability to ‘eyeball’ their fit. Well you can see how that turned out. Thank God for a good stash of fabric so I could fix this surprisingly quickly
In the category: Power tools WRACK!!
I completely changed an old boring Ikea cupboard into a charming cottage style thing of beauty. I used paint, fabric, chicken wire and a lot of power tools. I even did a tutorial on how to do it, so you can all do it too.
In the category: the one that made my Love break out into a sweat:
My office chair makeover. My part in this project was very easy. But My Love had to use some serious blunt force trauma (CSI fan can you tell?) to get the chair to cooperate
In the category: my sister wants her shirt back:
I had this old shirt that I recieved from my sister years ago, I couldn’t wear it, but couldn’t throw it away either. This year I finally found a use for it. I revamped a pillow. Loving it every day now.
In the category: My new addiction – vintage wallpaper:
I found this little wall cupboard for next to nothing in the thrift store. It looked gastly but it had potential. I ‘made it over’ with paint and wall paper and it now has a place of pride in my girly girl craft room.
In the category: it doesn’t get any easier than this:
In the category: I fell head over heals in love with this one:
An old tea cabinet I thrifted at my in-laws house. I love how this turned out. It is my favorite piece of furniture in the house now and I love creating little vignettes on top of it. This one even got a thumbs up from my modern design loving man.
In the category: you can’t forget about Christmas:
An old kitschy snowman needed some paint and glitter to bring him back to live. And seeing all the snow we have been having, he is doing a fine job.
