I did tell you that I love mantels, didn’t I . I think every house should have a mantel. It is such a great focal point of the room and nothing says more ‘home’ to me then a roaring fire on a winter’s day. But sadly my house does not have a mantel or room for a mantel even though I have grand visions of the way I would decorate it.
That’s why I use radiator covers and little white cupboards to get my fix of ‘mantel-loving-vignette-making’. I was playing around in my craftroom once more and came up with an all white vignette there too.
My craft room is big, but under our slanted roof, so I lack a lot of opportunity to put storage units in there. If I make decorative corners, they have to be functional as well. And since I need to see my stuff in order to remember that I have it, I like making corners with my craft materials.
For this little vignette I used thrifted white soup bowls, an old scale found at my in-laws, coffee-cups and lots of lace, doilies and pretty sparkly bits.
I love having my bounty out in the open like that. This way it gives my pleasure three times: when I hunted it down at the brocante market, when I look at it in my craft room, and when I get to create with it.
It is a nice way to get through a winter’s day: playing with my girly stuff up in my craftroom.
