I have been easing into the Christmas season slowly. I started by watching my favorite Christmas movie of all times: Love Actually. So you understand the mood I was in when I made this little heart-shaped jingle bell ornament.

It’s one of those simple crafts that fills your space with both sparkle and sound — a soft jingle every time the ornament moves. I love how it catches the light and adds a touch of homemade charm.

Whether you’re crafting with the kids or just unwinding with some holiday tunes, this easy ornament is pure Christmas coziness in the shape of a heart.

Want to make one too?

Sure you do, these are easy, fun and quick to make.

Materials You’ll Need For Making Jingle Bell Ornaments

First you will need teeny tiny jinglebells. I got them in a dollar store kind of shop. One of those jars was enough for one heart (but more is better).

Then you will need some tough wire that will hold its shape to create the heart and a roll of thin silver thread/wire to wrap the jingle bells with.

For my first heart I used an old wire clothes hanger, but that was kind of heavy duty and a lot of work to bend in the heart shape. For my second and third heart I used a softer but still very sturdy wire from the hardware store.

  • Get a good length of  the thin wire and attach it to the heart.
  • Thread clusters of five bells ont the thing wire and wrap them around the heart shaped wire.
  • Squish them together and secure with the thin wire.
  • Continue like this until very full.
  • Tip: When you squish them and pull the bells tightly together wrap a bell or too in a noose, this will secure the little bunches to stay put.

That’s it.

Told you this was easy. You can do it while watching TV.

This was so fun, and I finished my first heart so quickly that I made another one….

And then another one with a little variation.

This time I combined the jingle bells with some faux pearls and beads.

Oh la, la, glamorous much….

  2. I do believe everything looks prettier in the Netherlands. Even your bells!!! I totally love this sans pearls and love it with pearls. Thank you for posting!!! I thought of you as I got my Advent candles ready. This year I’m using glass narrow filled with vanilla scented candle wax for my four candles. They even have a rim of gold paint at the top! I saved a fancy Christ Candle and added a small angel with a banner. Fine sharpies allow fine wring Jesis is born!Alleluia! I bought a new advent book so I’m covering it in white and I spray painted an old colored paper doily for the cover. Preparing my heart for Christmas!!

  5. Do you know what size the bells are? I’m looking to order them online. Is 6mm small enough?

    1. Hi Dee,
Yes, I think 6mm is small enough. You can always adapt the size of the heart to make it a good match. Good luck and have fun!
