3 Easy Christmas Decorations for the Busy Decorator

Well hello to you, welcome to my home that is starting to look a lot like Christmas. Today I want to share three little, easy and relaxed Christmas decorations. This is truly decorating for the busy decorator. If your life is anything like mine at the moment than there are so many more things asking, begging and screaming for your attention than just Christmas decorating, that easy and relaxed is the only way to go.

I’m having a ton of fun with this series, and my home is looking better by the day, (although I can’t say the same about me :-D ). But in all honesty sometimes life is just way too busy and demanding to spend all day fluffing and foofing, no matter how much fun that would be. So in comes the simple and easy decorating I love so much. I promise you, anyone can do it, and it only takes a few minutes.

Let me show you my three Christmas vignettes that I pulled off  after the day shift, the laundry, dinner and a long phone conversation with a friend, and I still had time to spare.

Easy vignette no. 1: use the bottles from you favorite drink

Confession time. When I came up with this idea I thought I had at least four of these empty little bottles left. Turns out they didn’t survive a recent cleaning spree. So I actually went to the store, bought a four pack of my favorite cider and proceeded to empty them for the sake of decorating. You might say I sacrificed my sobriety for the blog…..

Not all at once though, don’t worry, I spread my drinking out over four nights, but still that was the most time intensive part of this decoration. It was also the most fun part :-)

Four bottles, four candles, some twine, evergreen twigs and a Christmas ornament. Really life can be simple if you take a relaxed approach.

While I was at it, I finally switched out some of the things inside the hutch. The sea stars and coral have been replaced by some big silver and shiny things like a bowl and my disco ball and some red accents have been added.

I think we can call this done. Let’s move on to exhibit two:

Easy vignette no. 2: use your Fall vignette and Christmasify it

Remember my 5 ways to get your home ready for Fall in under an hour? One of the vignettes I made for Fall was a lantern on a little dish with some Fallish trinkets. Well I just replaced the lantern with some white candle holders, replaced some of the pinecones with silver ornaments, added a bit of extra bling and called it a day.

Really you can do this while sipping on your drink that you are truly only drinking because you need the empty bottle for vignette number one…..

You know, my kind of multitasking, all in the line of duty…..

Just grab a dish, a plate, a tray; plunk on some candle holders ( I am sure you have many, like I do); fill the empty space with some finds from your garden or the woods; add some shiny sparkly stuff, and it will look good. I promise.

Now that you have the boxes with decorations and ornaments out anyway. let’s move on to the third easy vignette.

Easy vignette no. 3: shine a little light on it

This is actually a variation on vignette number 2. In this case I filled up my wood tray that fits my window sill so perfectly with white, silvers and browns.

You can spot pinecones, moss, faux flowers and real pinecones dipped in plaster, a small disco ball, some wooden stars, tiny ornaments, big ornaments and yes that big white ball is actually a broken light bulb….

Underneath most of these things are some broken bricks to fill up the tray halfway, otherwise I’d have to use way too many decorations and I wouldn’t have any left for my Christmas tree.

I just love the contrast between the white and silver and the brown tones of the pinecones and the tray.

I draped a string of lights over it. This little arrangement looks so good at night when it is dark out and the shades are drawn. So fun and festive and sparkly…

And don’t you dare put too much thought in how to arrange all this stuff. The more relaxed and random the better it will look.

Really did I say too much? Did I live up to my promise? This is truly the easiest Christmas decorating you can do and it will leave you enough time to relax, sip your drink and watch White Christmas for the oomphtiest time.
