Hello lovelies, welcome to my first Christmas post of the year. I am a bit early with this Christmas post, at least for my doing as I normally don’t start until the first Advent. But this year I got a special invite that I couldn’t pass up and it all had to do with going to the movies.
So I decided to do a project that had been in my mind for a long time. I did a quick and easy DIY project and made a Christmas card holder.
How to display Christmas cards on wall? Loving this Christmas card holder DIY. Create this greeting cards display by hanging Christmas cards on ribbon. How to attach Christmas cards to ribbon is easy with these mini clothespins.
Now if you want to know what going to the movies has to do with Christmas cards……
You’ll have to read on!
But first this Christmas card hanger. I am sure you have seen versions of this around, often in traditional Christmas colors. But if you have been here before you know that I am generally not into the bright, the colorful or the busy. My kind of decorating, any time of the year, is rather lazy, light and with white as my main color. Christmas this year will not be different. And this little Christmas card holder project will set the tone.
BTW if this is your first time visiting? You can find all my Christmas decorating projects in my European somewhat Scandinavian style in my gallery, there are also a lot of easy and quick Christmas craft projects (I don’t do any other kind) in that gallery.
I used part of a leftover floor board cut to size and stencilled it with one of the many awesome Christmas stencils from longtime blogging friend Donna, well known for Funky Junk Interiors. The ribbon was bought years ago in one of those totally over the top extravaganza haberdashery (must be my favorite english word) stores in New York city. And that’s it. Not much more to this DIY I am afraid. Told you it was a quick and easy one!
But I am loving it.
And now to the movie part. The whole project was inspired by this movie:
My all time favorite Christmas movie. I see at least once every season and it has so many favorite scenes. From Hugh Grant jiving through the halls of Downing Street 10, the love speech by swoon worthy Colin Forth, or that too funny gift wrapping scene with Rowan Atkinson, it is all just so very Christmassy.
As is one of my other favorite scenes. Recognize this one?
The door scene with the cue cards. It is corny and cheesy and totally over the top, but I love it.
Anyway those black and white cards with those lovely messages were the inspiration for this project. Because anybody who wants to send me a Christmas card saying I am perfect is a dear Christmas friend in my book ???
And if I get a Christmas card like that?
I’ll have the perfect spot for it….
And about that invitation?
My Christmas movie inspired project is part of a group effort of many more wonderful ladies who let themselves be inspired by the spirit of the season as it is in the movies and who created lovely projects, recipes and posts about their favorite Christmas movie.
So go check out and enjoy the blog hop:
